Are you an organized, detail-driven legal professional who takes pride in making sure no deadline ever slips?
Our elder abuse law firm is seeking a full-time Calendar Clerk/Docket Specialist to serve as the central point for calendaring across the firm. In this role, you will calendar court deadlines, discovery and motion dates, depositions, and trials, set up ticklers and reminders for key follow-ups, and keep our case teams informed of what is coming up. You will also help cover our front desk by answering incoming calls.
This is an essential support role within our firm. The Calendar Clerk/Docket Specialist’s accuracy and follow-through allow our attorneys, paralegals, and legal secretaries to stay focused on their cases, knowing that every date has been captured and nothing falls through the cracks.
Key Responsibilities
- Calendar court deadlines and date changes forwarded by case teams, including motion deadlines, extensions, hearings, and hearing links.
- Calendar and update trial dates, including trial continuances and the related deadlines that follow.
- Schedule and track depositions, keeping our calendar systems consistent as dates are added, moved, and cancelled.
- Set up ticklers and reminders for key follow-ups, such as deposition notices, subpoenas, and meet and confer dates.
- Prepare weekly team calendars and practice-area reports so each team knows what is coming up.
- Confirm with the sender once an item has been calendared.
- Ask questions and flag unclear items rather than guess.
- Stay current on local rules and calendaring software updates.
- Assist with answering and directing incoming calls.
Qualifications
- Prior experience in a law firm, with calendaring or docketing experience strongly preferred, ideally in civil litigation.
- Familiarity with California civil procedure, filing deadlines, and court rules for computing dates.
- Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
- Clear, professional communication by phone and email.
- Ability to manage competing deadlines and shifting priorities across multiple active cases.
- Proficient in CompuLaw or Abacus; Microsoft Outlook and Excel; case management software (e.g., Filevine) experience a plus.
What We’re Looking For
The ideal candidate is dependable and detail-oriented, someone who takes ownership of the firm’s calendar and makes sure deadlines, hearings, and trial dates never slip. You bring both precision and a sense of urgency to the work that keeps litigation moving, and you are comfortable asking questions when something is unclear.
If you are a legal professional who takes pride in thorough, reliable calendaring, we encourage you to apply.
